Celebrate Bathukamma: The Goddess of Life
Join the Telangana Association of Germany e.V. (TAG e.V.) for a day of flowers, folk songs and community, in collaboration with Sri Ganesh Temple.
Bathukamma is the cherished festival of the women of Telangana and parts of Andhra Pradesh, celebrated over the nine days of Dussehra Navarathri. Women and children gather to build Bathukamma, a towering arrangement of wildflowers, and Boddemma, a Gowri (Mother Durga) figure shaped from mud. They sing folk songs and dance in circles around the flowers, praying for prosperity and a bountiful harvest. At the end of the celebration, Bathukamma is immersed in water. The wildflowers used are known for helping purify water bodies.
Whether you grew up with Bathukamma or are experiencing it for the first time, you, your family and your friends are warmly invited.
